It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Hugh Stanley Gaisford, who left us on June 1, 2025, at the age of 85 in Loveland, Colorado. Born on August 21, 1939, in Justin, Texas, Hugh was a true Texan through and through, bringing warmth and joy to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. Hugh's life was marked by generosity, humor, and loyalty.
He filled the lives of his loved ones, especially his beloved wife Louise Gaisford who preceded him in death, his son, John Mark (MJ), stepson Timothy Crosby, stepdaughter Jan Walker, and his beloved step-grandchildren Todd, Randy, James, Sarah, and Teresa—with unforgettable memories and plenty of laughter. Known for his kind heart and honest nature, Hugh was the kind of person who always lent a listening ear or a helping hand.
Professionally, Hugh found his passion in photography, spending many years working for Western Camera in Loveland. His keen eye for detail and creative spirit led to many cherished photographs that captured life’s beautiful moments. Beyond work, Hugh's interests painted a vibrant picture of a man who truly enjoyed life.
An avid reader with a particular love for history, he also had a flair for cooking and experimenting with new recipes. He took immense pride in sharing the authentic taste of Texas with those around him, especially through his famous smoked meats, a labor of love that led him to found the G Bar 3 BBQ. Whether whipping up a feast at home or on the road, Hugh's culinary creations were always a highlight at family gatherings.
Travel was another of Hugh's great joys. He relished the adventures with his truck and camper, exploring new towns and soaking in their unique cultures. Each journey added another chapter to the story of a life well-lived.
A celebration of Hugh's life will take place in Loveland, Colorado, and Texas, with dates and times yet to be announced. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider making a donation to the Humane Society of Larimer County in Hugh's memory—a fitting tribute to the compassionate soul he was.
Hugh Stanley Gaisford will be missed dearly, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. Rest well, dear Hugh; your journey has just begun.
