It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Darby Calvin Morgan, who left this world on June 2, 2025, in Byron, Georgia. Born on June 1, 1955, in St. Louis, Missouri, Darby was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, whose legacy of service and dedication will forever be cherished by those who knew him.

Darby’s educational journey culminated in a Bachelor’s degree from St. Leo College, followed by a Master’s degree from Webster University. He exhibited a remarkable commitment to service, enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps after his studies. Over the course of his 20-year military career, Darby was stationed in many overseas locations, including Korea, Lebanon, Iraq, Japan, and the Philippines. He served honorably and even had the distinguished privilege of being part of the flight crew for President Carter. After his retirement from the military, Darby continued to serve his community with unwavering dedication. He held key positions as the Director of Dismiss Charities and the Red Cross, where his notable contributions included working at Ground Zero, overseeing operations during the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, and coordinating evacuations during Hurricane Katrina in Savannah. Additionally, he devoted six years of his life providing assistance in Iraq in collaboration with the Department of State, showcasing his commitment to helping others in times of need.

Darby is survived by his beloved wife, Kathy, whom he married on January 31,1993, in Charleston, South Carolina. He is also survived by his loving children: Christine (Charles) Whorton of Mississippi, Laurie (William) Wargo of Georgia, and Joanne (Randy) Braddy of South Carolina. His cherished sister, Tina Nibblett of Alabama, along with nieces Shannon (David) Turner, Robin Nibblett, and nephew Nicholas Nibblett, all of Alabama, were blessed to have him in their lives. Darby was a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren and a doting great-grandfather to five great-grandchildren.

A private ceremony in honor of Darby’s life will be held, respecting the family's wishes.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to either the Marines Toys for Tots or the Scottish Rite Hospital, acknowledging Darby’s spirit of giving and compassion. Darby Calvin Morgan’s legacy of service, love, and kindness shall forever remain in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
