All-States Cremation - Wheat Ridge
Robert Allen
June 22nd, 1934 - November 6th, 2024
Robert (Bob) Allen, age 90, died peacefully at home with his wife, Lucile, at his bedside on November 6, 2024. Bob was born June 22, 1934 in Chicago, IL, the younger son of Fred and Mildred Allen. He attended Morgan Park Military Academy and received a B.S. degree from Miami University of Ohio. In his junior year at Miami University of Ohio, Bob noticed Lucile Robinson, a student at the nearby Western College for Women and told a fraternity brother he intended to marry her. Within a year they began dating. She followed him to Austin, Texas after graduation where Bob pursued a MS degree in Petroleum Geology at the University of Texas. In 1957, after Bob’s graduation from UT, they were married. For 13 years he worked as an oil/gas geologist in the Rocky Mountain region working for Sinclair and Tricentrol Resources in Billings, MT, Casper, WY and Denver, CO. Eventually, he decided to work as an independent petroleum geologist. Even in his final months of life he continued to press for an area in Nebraska to be drilled.
Beyond his work as a petroleum geologist, Bob loved spending time with his family and friends. His three sons remember their dad’s loyal presence at their sports practices and games. All the neighborhood kids wanted to be at the Allen house because Bob was usually in the yard throwing the football or baseball. He was known to give one or two kids a summer haircut on request - to the shock of their mothers! Despite those small oversteps, he was always available to help a neighbor, shovel a walkway or liven a neighborhood gathering with his good humor and deep care for his friends. Bob’s sport was tennis. He had a great network of tennis friends and he played into his 80’s. True to his roots, he was a loyal Chicago Cubs and University of Texas football fan.
Bob was an involved granddad. He attended as many games and school events as possible…and kept up with grandchildren living out of state through weekly phone calls. There were countless lively card games complete with colorful sayings that are fondly etched in the memories of his grandchildren.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Marvin Allen. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Lucile, three sons, Dr. Robert P. Allen (Sharon), Kevin Allen (Jennifer), Dr. Timothy Allen (Tiffany), seven grandchildren: Mark Allen (Lauren), Kelly Duncanson (Caleb), Leigh Monterac (Jorey), Ben, Blaise, Avery and Addison Allen and one great grandson, Carvis Duncanson.
