Sandra L. Sutherland, age 68, was born on December 25th, 1956, to William and Nancy (Talkington) Sutherland. She often joked that sharing her birthday with Christmas was both a blessing and a curse. Sandra died unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 3rd, 2025, in Gilbert, Arizona, due to natural causes.
In her teens, Sandra developed a lifelong love for knitting and could out-knit most grandmas by the time she was 20. She was a fashion icon with a wicked intellect and a wonderful sense of humor.
Despite her petite stature, Sandra was a force to be reckoned with when it came to the lives of her loved ones and her pets. Sandra’s love extended beyond blood—though she had no biological children, she was a mother in every sense, playing an instrumental role in raising and mentoring many young lives.
Sandra was preceded in death by her mother, beloved brother Billy, and one of her sons, Anthony Correia; brother-in-law Richard Braithwaite; and her untrainable mutt, Spanky. She is survived by her husband, Jeff Reed, and a large brood of daughters and sons, including Krisha (Steve) Schufran, Sarah (Nathan) Tripodo, Tina Ward, Jacob Luster, Annabella Reidy, Travis (Alex) Correia, Sophia Reed, and Marcus (Lesliee) Tutoatasi. She will be missed by her father, William (Jane) Sutherland, and siblings Debra (Gary) Teagan, Terry (Sue), Laura, and David (Kathy) Sutherland, as well as three rescue dogs and one rescue cat.
Her memory will live on through her cherished grandchildren, including Collin, Penny, Adrianna, Alexander, Andrew, Christopher, Maddison, Sophia, Koa, Kai, and Liam, and her many loving nieces and nephews, all of whom have stories about their tiny aunt with a big head of hair and an even bigger laugh.
Through her benevolent business, which aimed to promote friendship and create meaningful life experiences through travel, Sandra’s reach extended far beyond just family and friends. She was deeply passionate about her mission, and her work touched the lives of many. In her absence, the business will continue, honoring her vision and carrying forward the legacy she so lovingly built.
Whether it was a laugh, a cry, a hug, or a meal, Sandra gave from the heart—always, and without hesitation.
Details regarding a celebration of life will be forthcoming.
