Our eldest brother, Rupert Ralph Gomez born, December 23, 1946, to Carmen Roberts Gomez of Jarales, NM and Abelicio Gomez of Pueblitos N,M. passed from illness on May 29, 2025,
Rupert grew up, leading the pack in the 50’s -riding bikes, playing baseball and football with neighborhood friends, attending San Felipe Church and Elementary School, then Old Town Elementary, and Washington Jr. High. He graduated from Albuquerque High in 1964, then joined the Army. Rupert trained at Fort Bliss, deploying to Germany, then returning to Albuquerque. Rupert lived and worked his adult life in Albuquerque, making his home in Los Lunas, NM.
Rupert's first motorcycle was a purple Triumph 750 and enjoyed riding into his later years. Rupert was unmatched in making a penny stretch, building durable structures from what was at-hand, and kept his classic El Camino running and looking sharp. Rupert was known for his persistence, determination and generosity but especially his fairness.
Rupert is survived by his daughter Dedra Marujo and three grandchildren; siblings Jerry Gomez, Cynthia Gómez, brother in-law Vaughn Harris, Diane Martinez, Shirley Marks, nieces and nephews, Abe Gomez, Samantha Moreno, Marisol Gensamer, Robert Martinez, Jason Gomez, Vicente Gomez, Margarita Ortega y Gómez, Christopher Gomez, Jesus Gomez and Priscilla Gomez. Rupert was blessed with 15 great nieces and nephews, and many treasured cousins who enriched his life.
Rupert is preceded by our beloved parents Abelicio Gomez and Carmen Gomez, nephew, Nathaniel Gomez, brother Victor Gomez his wife Inez Gomez, and son, Alfonso Morales; Grandparents Ruperto and Nicanora Gomez, Nieves and Frank Sanchez and Antonia and Pablo Chavez. May they receive him with open arms.
A mass will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church located at 3674 NM-47, Peralta, NM, Please check back for service schedule. The family appreciates your kind thoughts and prayers.
