Terry Brown
May 31st, 2025
Terry Brown passed away peacefully May 31, 2025, following a long illness. The son of Herb and Thelma Brown, he was a lifelong resident of Yuba City, CA.
He attended local schools and graduated from CSU Chico, CA. During his high school and college years, he worked in his father's Mobil service station in Marysville, CA.
After graduating, he spent summers working as a mechanic in the Del Monte cannery. After two years at the water treatment plant, he became a firefighter for the Yuba City Fire Department.
To keep busy on his days off, Terry and a fellow firefighter started a window washing business. Before long, he branched out on his own and started A-1 Window Washing.
Over the years, the business grew to include carpet cleaning and water and fire damage restoration. As his business expanded, Terry employed several technicians and proudly served the community for decades.
Terry was passionate about sports and committed to living an active life. In his youth, he played baseball at several levels, leading to a season on a local semi-pro team.
He also played basketball, ran cross-country track, played soccer, and later coached local youth soccer teams, leading several to championship victories.
He enjoyed ballroom dancing, running, cycling, family gatherings and spending time at Lake Tahoe, one of his favorite places to relax and recharge.
Alongside his beloved therapy dog, Rusty, he visited elder care homes, bringing smiles and small gifts to the residents.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; his children, Kevin, Jody, and Rachel; his step-children, Derek Sage and Brad Sage; and his former wife, Peggy Johnson. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, all of whom brought him great joy.
Interment will be at Sutter Cemetery where a service honoring his life will be held Thursday, June 12 at 1 PM, followed by a reception at The Harvest Room, 1475 Tharp Rd., Yuba City, CA.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Maryknoll Brothers & Sisters, a Catholic Missionary Fund, at P.O. Box 302, New York, NY 10545-0302.
