Richard Franz Ganter
November 14th, 1944 - May 29th, 2025
Richard Franz Ganter, 80, passed away May 29, 2025 with the love of his family surrounding him. Born November 14, 1944 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of Franz Ganter and Edith Margaret (Franke) Poeggel. Rich proudly served his country in the US Coast Guard during the Vietnam War. For 30 years, he loved his time working with students at Pathfinder Regional Vocational Technical High School. Rich was meticulous about caring for his lawn and enjoyed time watching birds and gardening. His love for music and golf was also fondly remembered by his family. Rich's memory will forever be cherished by his wife, Carol Lee (Knowlan) Ganter, along with his two daughters, Jennifer Jolin and her husband Frank, and Christine Ronan and her husband Steve, along with his dear grandchildren, Katelyn, Ashley, Abigail, Sean, Stephen, Mazie, and Willa. Carol's two sons, Justin Wickens and his wife Cathy as well as James Wickens and his wife Amanda along with his brother, Kurt Ganter and his wife Lani and sister, Billie Hopps also survive him. Richard was predeceased by a brother, Freddie Poegel in 2021 and Edith’s husband, Fritz Poeggel. Private services for the family will be held at Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home with burial at MA Veterans' Memorial Cemetery. Donations may be made in his memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
