Kenneth Lee Smith
September 8th, 1927 - June 6th, 2025
Kenneth Lee Smith, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, peacefully passed away on June 6, 2025, at the age of 97 in Winter Haven, Florida. Born on September 8, 1927, in Blacksburg, Virginia, Kenneth lived a life marked by love, kindness, and commitment to his family. Kenneth married Mary Elizabeth Smith, and together they forged a bond built on mutual respect and affection. He was the proud father of Joy Kirkland and cherished grandfather to Jeremy and Ryan Kirkland. Kenneth also leaves behind his dear sister, Katherine Goodholm. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Gertrude Smith, and his daughter, Susan Blan. A dedicated worker, Kenneth spent his career at the Continental Can Company, where he applied his craftsmanship as a factory worker and later on in his career he became a painter. His artistry extended beyond his profession; he found joy in painting, capturing the beauty around him. His gentle spirit was complemented by his love for fishing and spending quality time with his family, creating lasting memories that will be treasured forever. Those who knew Kenneth remember him as a quiet gentleman, considerate, generous, and kind—a man who always put others before himself. His legacy of love and respect will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him. The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at Kersey Funeral Home, beginning at 10 AM, with a service to follow at 11 AM. Kenneth will be laid to rest surrounded by the love of his family and friends who gathered to honor his life. In this difficult time, we extend our heartfelt condolences to all who mourn the loss of Kenneth Lee Smith, a truly remarkable man whose gentle soul will be deeply missed.
