Stanley Thomas Segien, beloved father, grandfather, companion and loyal friend passed away unexpectedly June 9, 2025. Stan was a native Floridian born in Tampa on June 11, 1954 to parents Stanley John Segien and Louise Margaret Pitts. Stan is survived by his son Michael John Segien, daughter-in-law Deborrah Pruitt Segien, and his three grandchildren Michael Samuel Segien, Ashley Lauren Smith, and Austin Ryan Smith. He leaves behind his beloved sister Mary Louise Miller and brother-in-law Don Miller, as well as nephew Johnny Miller and wife Shelley Schultz-Miller.

He worked as biomedical electronic repair technician for many years. He finished his later years as a fire suppression technician before retiring. He lived happily with his beloved companion Gerri Lane in Clearwater where he was surrounded by a group of his loyal friends that he would give the very shirt off his back for. Stan enjoyed cruising around in his golf cart and being the neighborhood socialite. He could always be found on the porch exchanging witty banter with his buddies and sweetheart, Gerri.

Stan loved his animals. In his younger years, Stan had German Shepard's Schultz and Refer; most recently he had his beloved little dog Tinker Bell and mischievous cat Jett. He thought it was funny to take rides in his golf cart with the neighborhood pets as his sidekicks.

Stan was quite the pool player; he would tell tales that he was the local pool shark running the tables with his nephew Johnny. His favorite sport was jai alai, which he played every Sunday as an amateur player. It was a common ritual to take his son Michael to the pro-games on Saturday and to watch him play on Sunday.

He cherished the time he spent with his companion Gerri. Stan used to brag how well she took care of him and treated him like a king. Their time together ended too soon as he would speak how they were going to grow old together.

One of Stan’s fondest memories and proudest moments was the birth of his only son Michael in 1979. He loved to talk about how his former wife, Patricia O’Brien, gave birth to Michael in the most “hippie way” possible in the Tampa house they shared together. He and Patty were great at co-parenting and found a way to love and respect each other as friends over the decades.

Stan adored, and was adored by, his three grandchildren. They lovingly christened him "PeePaw", a title he held with great pride. For every birthday, graduation, and celebration, PeePaw was undoubtedly there – usually the first to arrive, bright and early, ready to get the party rolling.

There is no one way to describe Stanley. He was many things to many people, as he undoubtedly touched the hearts of many. Stan was genuine, loyal, humble, and kind spirited and will be truly missed by all that knew him.

May he Rest in Peace.

A Celebration of Stanley's Life is scheduled for Monday, June 16, 2025 starting with a Visitation at 2:00pm and the Funeral Service at 3:00pm at Loyless Funeral Homes, 5310 Land O' Lakes Boulevard, Land O' Lakes, Florida 34639.
