Joan Marie Kuna Pennacchio
November 15th, 1934 - May 30th, 2025
Joan Marie Kuna Pennacchio passed away at her home on Friday, May 30th, 2025 at the age of 90 in Tucson, Arizona. She was born November 15th, 1934, to Bert and Margaret Vollbrecht. Raised in Chicago, Joan moved to Tucson in 1988 to be closer to her daughters and granddaughters. A member of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church since her arrival to Arizona, she was a devout Catholic who attended mass every week.
A working woman in a time before it was common, Joan bragged long after her retirement that she never missed a day of work. She was a joy to be around, an incredible cook, a sharp pinochle player, and made the best pierogies outside of Poland. Anyone who knew Joan was blessed to have her in their life. She was kind, loving, generous, and funny. When she welcomed you into her home, it became your house as well. She was the center of her family; Sunday dinners were a staple for decades for her children, grandchildren, and their friends and family.
She was proceeded in death by her first husband Alfred Kuna, her second husband Ralph Pennacchio, her daughter Michelle, and her brother Robert. She is survived by her sister Adele, brothers Ronald (Sandy) and Richard, daughter Sharon (Derek), son-in-law Daniel, granddaughters Nicole (Robert) and Jessi (Jeff), and her great grandsons Owen and Jacob. Our Joan, Mom, Ma, Gram, & GG will be deeply missed.
A memorial service will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 8650 N. Shannon Road, in Tucson on June 18th, 2025 at 11 a.m.
