Margaret (Maggie) Eckstrom passed away peacefully on May 17, 2025 at the age of 87. Maggie was born on Mar. 7, 1938 in Kent, WA. She was the fourth of five children born to Tom and Joan Stafford. Except for 3 years living in California, Maggie lived her whole life in Washington state in the greater Seattle area.
After graduation from Kent Meridian high school she worked for Boeing, General Insurance (where she met and married her first husband, Kenneth Loomis), J.C. Penney and Virginia Mason Hospital. But by far the highlight of her “working career” was when she babysat her grandchildren 5 days a week for 11 years. She formed lasting bonds with all of them. Maggie married Warren Eckstrom on Aug. 22. 1987. They formed a blended family of 6 daughters and a son. They spent nearly every day together and enjoyed a life filled with love and companionship.
The 2 things Maggie loved most in her life were family and her Catholic faith. She was a Eucharistic Minister and helped with many church groups such as Feed My Sheep and the Cold Weather Shelter. She loved family gatherings whether for special birthdays, Fourth of July picnics or holiday get-togethers. Trips that have so many special memories were her first trip to San Francisco with Warren, a trip to Europe with Kim and Ray and a trip to Hawaii for their 10th anniversary.
Maggie was preceded in death by her parents Tom and Joan Stafford, all 4 of her siblings: Tom Stafford Jr., Gloria (Jim) Clark, Joan (Paul) Palmer and Dede (Danny) Flaig; her first husband Kenneth Loomis, her son Tom Brott and Warren’s daughter Melissa Richard.
She is survived by her husband of almost 40 years Warren, 5 of her blended family of 7 children: Patti (Dan) Meyer, Kathy (Jack) Coddington, Kim (Ray) McPherson, Jenny (Brett) Brueske and Wendy (Scott) Shropshire, 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren (with number 9 due in July).
There will be a funeral Mass at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 6511 176th St. SW, Lynnwood, WA 98037 on June 18, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. with a reception to follow in the parish hall.
We wish to thank the Fifth Floor nurses, the Palliative Care Team and the Continuum Care Hospice Team at Swedish Edmonds for the outstanding care and concern they provided to Maggie and our family.
