Cary Cole Higgins
July 17th, 1946 - June 10th, 2025
Cary Cole Higgins, age 78, of Greeley, Colorado, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Cary was born on July 17, 1946, in Fort Bridger, Wyoming, to John and Hilda Higgins. At age 17, he met the love of his life, Thelma. They married on November 13, 1965, and were inseparable from that day forward. They would have celebrated 60 years of marriage this November. Their love was the quiet, steady kind that built a home, held a family together, and showed what true devotion looks like.
Cary was a man of faith, humility, and deep kindness. He was known for his gentle nature, quiet sense of humor, and unwavering dedication to his family. He especially cherished being a grandfather and found great joy in his grandchildren — J, Christian, Axel, and Owen — who brought him endless pride and happiness. And now, in heaven, he has finally met his granddaughter Poppy, who was lovingly held in our hearts long before she could be held in our arms.
He built a successful career as a drywall contractor and was the proud owner of Northern Colorado Drywall Inc. for over 20 years. In 1990, Cary decided to pursue a longtime dream and enrolled at Aims Community College to earn his private pilot license. His love of learning didn’t stop there — he went on to earn an Associate of Applied Science in Electronic Technology. After graduating, he was hired by Woodward Governor Company in Fort Collins, where he worked with pride and integrity until retiring after 17 years. He lived a life of honesty, generosity, and quiet strength. Cary didn’t seek attention — he simply showed up for the people he loved.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Thelma; his children, Greg Higgins (Sarah) and Carrie Ann Brown (Fred); his grandchildren, J, Christian, Axel, and Owen; his recently discovered brother from another mother, Jim Kennedy; his beloved niece, Lisa Karns; and many extended family members and friends whose lives he touched deeply. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Hilda Higgins; his brothers, Wayne and Junius Higgins; and his granddaughter, Poppy. We are grateful for every moment we had with him, and we take comfort in knowing he is now fully healed and at peace in the presence of his Savior.
No services are planned at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
