Albert Arellano, Jr.

February 7, 1949 – June 7, 2025

Albert Arellano, Jr., 76, passed away peacefully in his home after a courageous struggle with kidney disease, heart disease, and diabetes. He was surrounded in love by family who cherished him deeply. Albert was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend — a man whose humor, resilience, and great love for his family will be remembered always.

Born on February 7, 1949, at Mercy Hospital in Denver, Colorado, Albert grew up in the city’s housing projects, a place that shaped both his playful spirit and his deep appreciation for life’s simple joys. He often said he didn’t remember every detail of those days, but the memories that remained were filled with laughter, adventure, and family. Albert carried the heart of a joyful child throughout his life.

In his youth, Albert proudly volunteered to serve his country during the Vietnam War. A decorated combat veteran, he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device, Combat Infantry Badge, and two Overseas Bars. Though he rarely sought recognition for his service, his quiet pride spoke volumes. That sense of duty, humility, and strength remained with him always.

Above all, Albert loved and valued his family. While he sometimes laughed that he couldn’t quite remember every detail of his past, his love for those around him never wavered. He embraced each day with warmth, humor, and an open heart.

Albert is preceded in death by his parents, Barbara Arellano and Albert Arellano, Sr.; his sister, Kathleen Ruff; his brother, Alan Arellano; his former wife and mother of his children, Margaret Castillo; his wife, Ra-Na Vogel; and his son-in-law, Felix Wenzel.

He is survived by his brother David Arellano; sisters Tina Hoffstetter (Corky), Barbara Vik (Rod), and Liz Shepherd. He is also survived by his daughters Rebecca Wenzel and Velinda Briley (Donnie); and by his beloved grandchildren: Raymond Briley, Donovan Briley, Devun Briley (Morgan), Sam Dunkle, and Lillie Briley, and numerous nieces, nephews, and godchildren.

Albert’s family will remember his strength, his humor, and the joy he brought to those around him. The love he gave was constant — and the legacy he leaves in the hearts of his family is everlasting.

The Serenity Prayer

"God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,

Courage to change the things I can,

And wisdom to know the difference."

2 Thessalonians 3:16 (NLT)

"Now may the Lord of peace himself give you his peace at all times and in every situation. The Lord be with you all."
