Mary Joyce Cochran Fulford, of Bradenton, FL, passed away, June 11, 2025.
She was born in Wythe County, Virginia, February 26,1937, the daughter of Lester and Ethel Sanders Cochran. She attended school in Hillsville, Virginia.
She moved from the Washington, D.C. area to Bradenton in 1955.
She married John (J.C.) Fulford on August 14,1954 in Virginia. She had an early career as an executive secretary in several companies and was elected to Bradenton City Council from 1983-1991.
She had a love for flowers, dogs and reading. She was a seamstress and won several Best of Show ribbons at the local level as well as state.
Predeceased by her husband, J.C., both parents, brothers; Sanders and Wade. She is survived by her sister; Betty (Harold) Gallagher of Burlington, N.C., as well as three nieces and four nephews. She is also survived by her dear friend, Betty Hays.
A Celebration of Life will be held on June 20, 2025, at 11:00am at Vaughn Guynn McGrady Funeral Home in Hillsville, VA., with a burial following at the Dalton Hill Cemetery in Hillsville, VA.
