Dana Kay Haggar
July 12th, 1945 - June 7th, 2025
Dana Kay Fondy Haggar, age 79, of Colorado passed away on June 7, 2025.
She is survived by her son, Jason Haggar and wife, Jennifer; grandchildren, Isabelle Haggar, Quinn Haggar, Aedan McCready, and Atticus McCready; sisters Sue Fondy Morris and Janie Fondy Wall; and brother Jim Fondy.
A devoted mother, grandmother, wife, sister, and friend, Kay passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 7th, in Longmont, Colorado, after facing Alzheimer's with grace and positivity. Born on July 12, 1945, in Roswell, New Mexico, to Dan and Bessie Fondy, Kay cherished her New Mexico roots.
Kay's journey through life was marked by quiet determination and dedication to her family. Kay graduated from Roswell High School and attended the University of New Mexico. She met her husband, Mike Haggar, while he was at the New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell, and they married in 1966. Together, they embraced the challenges of Army life, moving 13 times across the U.S. and to Germany, with Kay steadfastly holding their family together during Mike's deployments to Vietnam and Korea.
After raising her children, Kay embarked on a professional journey where she became the business operations director for the largest mental health network in New Mexico. She retired to Colorado Springs to be closer to her children and grandchildren. Kay was a proud grandmother and treasured the time she spent with Isabelle, Quinn, Aedan, and Atticus.
Kay will be laid to rest alongside her husband, Lt. Col. (Ret) Michael Haggar, at the Santa Fe National Cemetery on Wednesday, June 18th, at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, her family kindly requests donations to the National Mill Dog Rescue in Colorado Springs (https://nmdr.org), honoring her enduring love for dogs. Kay's warmth, strength, intelligence, and determination will forever be remembered by all who knew her.
