Delmar John Storment was born June 15,1925 and passed away on June 4, 2025, just 11 days before his 100th birthday.

Born in Walterville, Oregon to Franklin and Mildred Storment, he grew up in the Marcola/Mohawk valley, graduating from Springfield High School. As a member of the US Army, he was stationed in Europe, meeting his future wife, Maria, while in Munich Germany. They eventually settled in Coburg where they raised 5 children. He worked for the City of Eugene as an electrician/maintenance person for 30+ years. He also was very involved with The Friends of The Library.

He was humble, loyal, honest and hard-working. A man of few words, he taught instead by example. Facing life’s challenges head on and without complaint, he simply did what needed to be done and moved forward. He had a very analytical mind and always enjoyed refining processes to improve efficiency and safety. When asked what made him happy, he simply said “Living life as it came”. A grandson summarized him this way: “He was an example of humble contentment and determination, creating an enduring legacy of good people in his wake”.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Maria; daughter Barb; sisters Dorothy and Lois and brother Carl. He is survived by two daughters - Sue and Linda, and two sons Jim and Andy, as well as 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. No funeral is planned. A family celebration of his life will be private. Donations in his memory can be made to Friends of The Library or The Pete Moore Hospice House.
