Obituary for William "Bill" Johnson

William Aldred Johnson, a beloved father, son, brother, uncle and friend, left this world on May 25, 2025, after a life filled with laughter, loyalty, and a passion for all things sporty. Born on December 1, 1963, in Winchester, Massachusetts, Bill made quite the name for himself as he journeyed through life with a witty remark and a generous heart.

Much like his approach to life, Bill had a rather eclectic career path. From managing printing presses at AutoTrader to expertly operating presses at Nielsen Media Research, and even trying his hand as a prep cook at Salt Rock Grill, he showcased his versatility and work ethic. It’s said that you could always count on him to lighten the mood, whether he was plunging into the world of print or whisking eggs in the kitchen. He loved to cook breakfast for his sons.  Biscuits and gravy, eggs, bacon and pancakes, and the boys would get a kick out of having breakfast for dinner.

Bill was a man of many interests; sci-fi movies, books and TV shows with a most favorite being "The Hobbit", a fantasy novel written by J.R.R. Tolkien. He was also a comic book collector extraordinaire, he possessed the uncanny ability to weave tales of superheroes alongside his favorite sports—football (Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Rams), basketball (Boston Celtics), and yes, even wrestling! He shared his love for comic books with his sons and anyone that wanted to tag along to a Comic Book Convention, as well as his love for sports. His contagious laughter (or not-so contagious yelling at the TV, ha ha) often filled the air during games and he loved to host games or attend them at a friend's home.  He even had season tickets to the Buccaneer's games the last year they were at the Sombrero.

In addition to his love for sci-fi, comic books and sports, Bill was an incredibly loyal son, brother, father and uncle. He leaves behind his two cherished sons, Wm. Shane Johnson and Brenden A. Johnson. His dearly departed father, Orvis Aldred Johnson and his beloved mother, Lillian Castellano Johnson, will forever carry the fond memories of their bond; along with his brothers, James (with his wife, Joanne), Charles, Joseph, and Marc (and his wife, Laura), he leaves a legacy of love that stretches far and wide. Also mourning him are his many nieces and nephews, who fondly remember their Uncle Bill as the life of every family gathering.

A memorial service to celebrate Bill’s incredible spirit will be held at Anderson-McQueen Funeral Home in St. Petersburg, Florida, on June 25, 2025. Visitation begins at 5:00 PM, followed by the service at 6:00 PM. Friends and family are invited to come together to reminisce about the man who brought a smile to their faces, shared warmth in his generous spirit, and left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He may have moved on to the next great adventure, but his spirit will undoubtedly continue to inspire laughter and joy in every heart he touched.  Rest in Comfort and Peace, Bill!
