Daniel (Dan) Henry Salisbury, 73, of Las Animas, CO, a proud United States Air Force veteran, was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 8, 2025, at Sunny Vista Senior Living Center in Colorado Springs, CO, with family at his side. His earthly body is no longer struggling; he is now in his eternal heavenly form. He was born October 21, 1951, in Chicago, IL, the first child of Daniel William and Eunice Elaine (Tuxhorn) Salisbury. Dan graduated from Tony High School in Tony, WI, in 1969. He married Rita Bromley in 1970, and together they raised five children before divorcing in 2001. He later married Janice Krediet in 2008; they divorced in 2012.
Dan served in the Air Force from 1969 until his honorable discharge as Sergeant in 1972. He was a Senior Airman aircraft maintenance specialist in the 4650th Combat Support Squadron stationed at Richards-Gebaur Air Force Base, MO, with a tour in Vietnam. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. On Flag Day, June 14, 2023, he was presented a Quilt of Valor at the VFW Auxiliary Post 2411/District 6 in Las Animas, CO.
An entrepreneur at heart, Dan embarked on multiple ventures, including in the telecommunications and renewable wind/air energy industries. He attended Hasty Community Friends Church in Hasty, CO.
He is survived by his 5 children: Allison Sturtevant (Jeffrey) of Bristol, VT, and her three children; Jacob (Faith), Abigail, and Jaret. Adele McKinnis (Michael, Jr.) of Parker, CO, and her two children; Michael III and William. Jennifer Wolverton (Greg) of Woodstock, VA, and her son; Jerry Fendley and his two children; Grant and Madison. Leila Kinnie (Eric) of Winchester, VA, and her two children; Jayla Curry and her daughter; Nova Swaner and Blake Curry. Daniel Salisbury (Mary) of Gerardstown, WV.
His siblings: John Salisbury (Jessie) of Boles, AR, Arthur Dost (Julie) of White Bear Lake, MN, Theresa Dost of Concord, NC, and Allen Wordelman (Ruth) of Monument, CO. Many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents and a grandson, Jeremy Sturtevant.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Hasty Community Friends Church in Hasty, CO. A military committal ceremony and interment will be held at Culpeper National Cemetery in Culpeper, VA, on June 27, 2025.
