Dolores Marie Godwin-Lynch
September 21st, 1935 - June 3rd, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving & caring Mother, Dolores Marie Godwin-Lynch (nee Frederick) on June 3, 2025. She spent her final day at Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup surrounded by her children. This amazing & wonderful Mom was born on September 21, 1935, in Devils Lake, ND. She was 89 years old & resided in Orting, WA. She was an enrolled member of the Turtle Mt. Band of Chippewa Indians of Belcourt, ND. She moved to Tacoma when she was 9 years old with her parents, Andrew J. Frederick & Mary Caroline (nee Grant) Frederick & 8 siblings. She was raised in Tacoma where she attended school. In 1953 she married Bobby James Godwin, Sr. who was in the US Army, stationed at Fort Lewis, WA. While following his military career back & forth across the country they raised 7 children. The eldest is Charlene Roberts, Marquetta (Bob) Ramirez, Bobby Jr. (Regina) Godwin, Michael (Veronica) Godwin, Chris Godwin, & Anthony Godwin. She was preceded in death by a daughter Dolores Leigh Godwin. She leaves behind 13 grandchildren & numerous great great grandchildren & a great great great grandchild. In addition, an uncountable number of nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth M. Lynch who she married in 1985. During their time together she enjoyed painting the wood objects made by Kenneth, using beads to create unique necklaces & earrings. She was also the “queen” of karaoke in Tacoma. She loved to sing & people admired her singing. She enjoyed visiting friends at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge #3480, Orting, WA. She reveled in watching her beloved team – the Seattle Seahawks. Her most recent happiness & joy was practicing her steel guitar with her son Michael, who plays guitar and always looked forward to playing with him in his band. Dolores’s personality won her many friends of different cultures, backgrounds & ages. She has sacrificed so much to give us a good life. We admire her strength, patience, & unconditional love. Her final resting place will be with her beloved Kenneth at Tahoma National Cemetery (Military) in Covington, WA.
