In Loving Memory

With profound sorrow, the Fouste Álvarez family announces the passing of Adriana Fouste Álvarez, who departed this life on June 13, 2025, at the age of 52.

Born on September 19, 1972, in the city of Bucaramanga, Colombia, Adriana was the beloved daughter of Hernán Álvarez and Julia Orozco. From a young age, she stood out for her intelligence, vocation for service, and an unwavering passion for knowledge, which led her to earn a degree in Languages and a Master’s in Education.

Guided by her love for teaching and her desire to contribute to new generations, she emigrated to the United States, a country she embraced with deep affection and for which she always held special gratitude. She settled in Lexington, South Carolina, where she built a beautiful life and found the love of her life, Jeff Fouste. Together, they forged a home filled with respect, love, and joy, and from this union, their son Sean Santiago was born — her greatest pride and source of happiness.

Adriana dedicated her life to education, working for several years as a teacher at AC Flora High School, located in Columbia, South Carolina. There, she left an indelible mark on generations of students and colleagues, who will always remember her kindness, commitment, and warmth. Her work earned her several recognitions from the State of South Carolina, in honor of her tireless dedication to teaching and her exemplary commitment.

Adriana was also a devoted wife, a loving mother, a cherished sister, and a steadfast friend. She shared her life with her dear siblings René, Solange, and Hernán, with whom she maintained deep bonds of affection and companionship over the years. Her home was always a place of genuine warmth, hospitality, and joy.

Adriana’s US family and friends gained during  her marriage to Jeff, as well as those from her work life, students and colleagues, sincerely loved her and will miss her beyond words. She was a light in every situation and gathering. She leaves behind all that wish her a beautiful passage on this new journey to meet those loved ones that wait for her with open arms.

Today, her passing leaves a void impossible to fill, yet also a shining legacy of love, teaching, and gratitude that will endure in the hearts of all who had the blessing of knowing her.

Her remains will be laid to rest in a private ceremony alongside her closest family and friends. The family sincerely thanks everyone for the countless expressions of affection and support received during this time of profound grief.

Rest in peace, Adriana Fouste Álvarez. Your light, your kindness, and your teachings will live on eternally in those who shared life’s path with you.
