Alleine Hair
June 17th, 1942 - June 9th, 2025
In Loving Memory
Alleine Austin Hair, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2025, at the age of 82. She was born on June 17, 1942, in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, to the late Samuel and Evelyn Austin.
Alleine was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 61 years, William “Bill” Charles Hair, and her brother, Henry W. Austin.
She is survived by her loving children: daughter Katharine Goff (Robert), sons Charles Hair (Mimi) and Andrew Hair (Teshia). Alleine was a proud grandmother to six grandchildren—Timothy Sanders, Lindsay Goff, Savannah Szupka (Tony), Grace Anna Lowery (Reed), Cole Hair, and Lily Hair—and a cherished great-grandmother to Charles Szupka, Evelyn Szupka, Ella Reed Lowery, Wyatt Dennis, and Lila Dennis.
Alleine attended Winthrop University in 1959 and began her professional life with Colonial Life Insurance. After relocating to Summerville, South Carolina, she continued her career at the General Agency until her retirement in the peaceful mountain community of Lake Toxaway, North Carolina.
In retirement, Alleine found fulfillment in faith and service. She was an active member of St. Philip’s Episcopal Church and dedicated her time volunteering at the Shops of St. Philip’s, the Lake Toxaway Community Center, and as an election poll worker. Known for her warmth, generosity, and unwavering love for her family, Alleine especially treasured moments spent with loved ones in her mountain home.
The family will receive friends at 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington, SC. A funeral service celebrating her life will follow at 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations in Alleine’s memory to a local charity of choice or to St. Philip’s Episcopal Church in Lake Toxaway, NC.
