Walter (Wally) Oliver passed away June 7, 2025, at his home in Eaton, Colorado. He was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on July 11, 1948, to Walter and Carole Oliver. When he was about two years old, his family moved from Oklahoma City to the San Francisco Bay area where his family had originated. In 1957 his family moved to Aurora, Colorado then in 1959 the family moved to Broomfield, Colorado. In 1964 he met his “One and Only”, Libby, in high school. A year later he joined the Navy. While home on leave after Boot Camp, he asked Libby to write to him. He served from 1965-1969 during the Vietnam War off the coast of Vietnam. He earned the rank of Quartermaster and was a helmsman on the USS Mahan. After being released from active duty and transferred to the naval reserve, he returned to Broomfield and resumed his employment at Safeway. He was transferred to the Greeley, Colorado Safeway as the produce manager in the fall of 1970. Wally married Libby on February 1, 1971. A locally owned grocery store in Greeley hired him in February 1977. He worked for Toddy’s supermarket until February 2004 when it sold and closed. Prior to his retirement from Toddy’s, he served as a Board member for the Weld Food Bank. He filled his retirement with driving a silage truck for a local farmer, being a greeter at the Toyota dealership in Greeley, golfing, mowing for the City of Greeley golf course and traveling with Libby. He also enjoyed many summers camping and serving as camp host at Golden Bell Camp and Conference Center in Divide, Colorado. He was a member of Sunnyview Church of the Nazarene/Celebration Pointe Church for 38 years. Wally was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Carole Oliver and his sister Nancy Edwards. Wally is survived by his spouse, Libby; three children, Kari Terrazas (Anthony), Jamie Sutton (Wayne), Walter Russell Oliver; four grandchildren, Hannah Finn, Grant Finn, Alton Terrazas and Lincoln Terrazas; one sister Georgette Crutchfield (Wayne); two sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law and many nieces and nephews. Per Wally‘s request there will be no services at this time.
