I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith- 2 Timothy 4:7

Bradley James Whitman went to be with the Lord on June 13, 2025 in Volcano, California, after a long battle with cancer.  He was born on February 7, 1955 in Dallas, Texas to John and Norma Jane Whitman.  He moved to Novato with his family as a teen. He graduated from Novato High School and attended Santa Rosa Junior College.  Brad made his career as a claims professional and litigation manager primarily for CSAA and Federated Insurance Company.

Brad was a competitive bowler in his youth and as an adult enjoyed playing golf and officiating youth softball games as well as camping and hiking. He was a connoisseur of food and wine and loved cooking and exploring new recipes. He also liked playing board games, in particular cribbage, and collected classic games.  He loved dogs, especially Cocker Spaniels and will be missed by his girls, Maia and Gwenie.

Brad is survived by his wife, Lori Mayfield; his brothers Mike Whitman (Linda), Scott Whitman (Jamie), Jeff Whitman (Elizabeth), Mark Bowen and Pat Bowen (Darcy) and nine nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father John Whitman, his mother Norma Jane Samuelson and his step-father Ken Samuelson.

A graveside service will be held on June 26, 2025 at 11 a.m.  at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery, 270 Los Ranchitos Rd in San Rafael.  Memorial donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Center or to Hospice of Amador & Calaveras.
