**Obituary for Evalena "Evy" Lucille Baer** Evalena Lucille Baer, lovingly known as "Evy," passed away peacefully on June 3, 2025, in Dayton, Oregon at the age of 75. A cherished daughter of Lake Oswego, Oregon, she was born on June 19, 1949, to Lucy Fortesque and William Wingerd. Evalena’s vibrant spirit and unwavering love for her family and friends will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Evy is survived by her devoted siblings: Polly Rushin, Tim Wingerd, Linda Sharkey, Debbie Woods, and Eddie Fortesque; her cherished daughters, Peggy McShane and Tammy Lee; along with her seven beloved grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She also embraced the joy of family through two foster boys, whose lives she touched with her generous heart. Evalena is predeceased by her beloved parents, her sons Alvin Lee and Casey Lee, and one foster boy, whom she held dearly. Evy's education was a testament to her dedication and determination. She graduated from Hood River High School in 1967, and her pursuit of knowledge continued at Portland University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Accounting in 1988. In 2008, she completed her master’s degree in Accounting and earned a Certification in Taxation at Strayer University. Evalena's professional journey included significant roles, such as her work as a Staff Accountant at the Western Wood Products Association from 1989 to 2000 and as a Tax Accountant at H&R Block until 2001. From 2001 until her retirement in 2019, she proudly served as a Revenue Agent for the Department of Treasury and later joined Vanlue CPA Firm from 2020 to 2023. More than her professional accomplishments, Evalena was a beacon of kindness, generosity, and loyalty. She had an innate ability to offer unconditional love and support, qualities that endeared her to many. With a passion for quilting, she found joy in designing and learning new patterns, often dedicating time to continuing education classes focused on taxes. Most importantly, she cherished every moment spent with her family, surrounding herself with their laughter and love. Throughout her life, Evalena maintained deep connections with her faith. She attended various churches, including Hood River Assemble of God, Evangel Temple, Family Worship Center, People's Church, and Church on the Hill, reflecting her commitment to her spiritual journey. In honor of her legacy, a memorial service will be held at Church on the Hill, located at 700 NW Hill Rd, McMinnville, Oregon, on June 27, 2025, at 5 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Diabetic Association or the American Cancer Society, organizations that are meaningful to Evalena and her family. Evy will be profoundly missed, but her loving spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched throughout her journey.
