Judith Lucille Neuman
August 21st, 1935 - May 12th, 2025
Judith Lucile Neuman passed away on May 12, 2025, in Santa Cruz, California. She was 89 years old.
Born in Hinkley, CA, on August 21, 1935, Judith grew up on the Hartwick Ranch in Barstow. She later attended San Diego State University, where she met the love of her life, Roger L. Neuman, a sergeant in the US Marines. They were married in 1954 and recently celebrated 70 wonderful years together.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Judith’s greatest joy was her family. She lovingly raised four children and worked in early childhood education in the 1960s and early '70s. Judith had a quiet strength, a patient and kind spirit, and a deep Christian faith. She was an active member of various congregational churches over the years and especially cherished her connection to Twin Lakes Church in Santa Cruz.
Judith loved books, nature, and traveling with Roger and the family. Together, they explored much of the western United States, often with fishing poles in hand and kids or grandkids in tow.
She is survived by her husband, Roger L. Neuman, and their children Gregory, Steven, Melinda Herbert, husband Doug, and Phillip, wife Debbie; grandchildren Matthew Neuman, Brittnee DeClark, Ryan Neuman, Spencer Herbert, Glenna Herbert, Zac Neuman and Jessica Hunt; and great-grandchildren Addyson, Blake, Graham, Derek, Kinsley, Bryce and Avery. She was predeceased by her parents, Roger J. and Nola B. Hartwick, sister Rosemary Loreman and brother Jay Hartwick.
Judith’s legacy of love, warmth, and gentleness—making everyone feel like she was their own mother—lives on in the hearts of all who knew her.
