Donald "Don" Wayne Thompson, Sr.
October 7th, 1938 - June 14th, 2025
Donald Wayne Thompson, Sr., 86, of Chapin, SC, peacefully passed away at his home on June 14, 2025.
Born on October 7, 1938, in Danville, Virginia, Don was a graduate of Richmond University and went on to play defensive end for the Baltimore Colts and Philadelphia Eagles. He then went on to become a vice president for Unisource for 30 years until his retirement.
Don is survived by his wife of 61 years, Adrienne; his four sons, Donnie (Donna) of West Columbia, Willy (Joanne) of Denver, Colorado, Joshua (Sherri) of Chapin, and Duke (Becka) of Maryland; and a brother, James, of Danville, Virginia. Don is also the proud grandpa of 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
There will be a memorial service honoring his life on Thursday, June 19, 2025, from 4:00 pm – 6:00 p.m. at Gates to Zion Church, located at Glen Forest School, 1041 Harbor Drive, West Columbia, SC 29169.
