William C. Kelemen
June 12th, 1944 - June 16th, 2025
Bill Kelemen passed away peacefully on June 16, 2025. Born June 12, 1944 in Good Samaritan Hospital, Suffern, New York to Josef and Florence Kelemen. He leaves the love of his life for over 50 years, Karen Wachsman to remember the wild adventures across Canada, United States and World Wide they enjoyed. Bill was active in support of local community projects including North Rockland’s Brick museum to remember those lost at that tragic event, he also worked with Meals on Wheels for 10 years. He served his country in the US Army and served in Vietnam as a radio operator. He continued caring for his fellow veterans in many quiet ways with guidance, advice and standing up for Veterans Rights. This path led him to Leo Laders Post 130 American Legion, which he served as Commander and then to Rockland County Commander and cumulating with being honored as Rockland County Veteran of the Year by the County Co-ordinating Council.
Also as a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America 333 he served as Watch Commander for 20 years for the Bowline fire.
He worked as TV camera technician for almost 30 years for Fujinon, Wayne, New Jersey, and covering Olympics and all professional sporting events before retiring. Bill was pre deceased by his parents, sister Lynn Stalter and Goddaughter Kerry Kelemen Curran. He is survived by brothers Joseph, Dennis and Gilbert along with many nieces and nephews. He will be missed by many friends and family. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Leo Laders American Legion Post 130, 130 American Legion Way, Thiells, New York 10984.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 23, 2025 from 4pm-8pm at TJ McGowan Sons Funeral Home in Garnerville, NY. Services will be held on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, 10am at the funeral home followed by interment at Brick Church Cemetery, Spring Valley, NY.
