December 1st, 1940 - April 18th, 2012
Dennis A. Macha 71, of Tucson, Arizona, died peacefully after a long battle with pancreatic cancer on April 18, 2012. He was born in East Bernard, Texas on December 1, 1940, to Charlie and Rosa Smaistrla Macha who preceded him in death. Brother, Sylvester and his wife, Stella also preceded him in death. Dennis was actively involved with the Knights of Columbus, Orchard and Brazos School Boards, Orchard Volunteer Fire Dept. in Texas. In 2010, he and his wife, Judy moved to Tucson, AZ, where he enjoyed the mountain views while pursuing his woodworking hobby for the rest of his days. Dennis worked for 35 years in manufacturing engineering at Cooper Cameron in Missouri City, Texas. He was a faithful Catholic who loved and cherished his family and was a dedicated son, husband, father, brother, father-in-law and Grand Dad. He loved to spend time hunting and fishing, but cherished his time spent with family even more. He is survived by his loving wife, Judy; son, Steven Macha and wife, Debbie; daughter, Laure Schultz and husband, Andy; stepsons, Mark Reinke and wife, Lea, Tim Reinke and wife, Cheryl and six grandchildren, Melanie, Michael and Mallorie Macha, Heidi, Haley and Ryan Schultz; step-grandchildren, Daniel Reinke and Elizabeth Reinke. Also surviving Dennis are his brothers, Jerome and wife, Jeanie, Charlie and wife, Jean, Patrick and wife, Doris and Timothy and wife, Terry; sisters, Chris Dover and husband, Larry, Mary Lavender and husband, Dexter and Berna Pilcik and husband, Mark and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. The family wishes to express their deep gratitude to the Arizona Cancer Center and Drs. Dragovich and Mahadavan and all their staff who cared for Dennis during his long battle with cancer. Father Larry Sanders will officiate a Funeral Mass on Friday, April 20, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at Santa Catalina Catholic Church, 14380 N. Oracle. Dennis has donated his body to the University of Arizona College of Medicine; therefore, an interment will not be held at this time. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your favorite University College of Medicine.
