Denise Marie Oates

Denise Oates, 59, of Mullica Hill, NJ, died on June 16, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.  Adored sister of Rosemarie Harrison and husband Julian, Donna Oates and husband Jim Kelly, Jackie and Gregg Oates. Cherished aunt of Christian (Ayla), Kyle (Tawny), Katie, Brianna and Lachlan. Predeceased by her mother, Nancy and her father, Jack.  She is also survived by her caring aunt, Terry Farese, loving step-mother, Mary Oates, many dear cousins, wonderful friends, and her beloved cat, Olive. Denise was born in Englewood, NJ and spent much of her life in Lodi, NJ before moving to Mullica Hill in 2023. Denise lived for family and friends, always willing to lend an ear, a joke, or a perfectly-timed meme. She brought humor to every situation, making heavy moments lighter and being the first to make the room laugh when it was needed most, even in her final moments.  Denise embodied a particular creative spirit you rarely find. She dove into passions headfirst and made lifelong friends along the way.  She was a sculptor who spent years perfecting her craft. And she was a foodie, always sharing new restaurants and recipes she’d experimented with in her kitchen.  Above all, Denise could always be counted on to bring unique stories to the table. From obscure Abe Lincoln history to meditation techniques to the latest on kids cartoons, everyone jumped at the chance to talk with Denise. Her quick wit will never be forgotten by those who knew her. 

 Farewell Tribute  

 Relatives and friends are invited to attend Denise’s visitation on Wednesday, June 25 from 4:30-7:00 PM at McGuinness Funeral Home, 34 Hunter Street Woodbury, NJ and on Thursday, June 26 from 10-10:45 AM at Church of the Nativity in Franklinville, NJ.  Funeral Mass to follow on Thursday, June 26 at 11:00 AM at the Parish of Saint Michael the Archangel in the Church of the Nativity 2677 Delsea Drive, Franklinville, NJ 08332 with entombment to follow at All Saints Cemetery in Newfield, NJ.
