“Live like Molly"
Molly (Moreno) Short
The brightest light in our lives has gone dark with Molly’s passing. She died at home on June 18 at age 44, after bravely facing Glioblastoma brain cancer for more than two years, with the compassionate care of her devoted husband, Andy. Molly was born smiling, and it became her signature. That beaming smile lit up every room and it signaled her zest for life. Anyone in her wide circle of friends would agree that she simply made life more fun.
While cancer affected Molly’s mobility, it never prevented her from continuing to live each day to the fullest and she compressed a lifetime of adventures into her too-short life. It never diminished her unbreakable spirit or her sassiness. She surrounded herself with the people she loved deeply, starting with Andy and the rest of her family as well as new and long-time friends. Her passions were travel (especially Vegas or a beach), baseball, hockey, golf, country music, dogs, the state fair, good food and cold beer.
Molly worked as hard as she played, always holding down one job, usually two and sometimes three at a time. Her career included administrative roles for the State of MN for nearly 20 years, and her jobs in hospitality were a perfect match for her personality. She was a server or bartender at many places including Xcel Energy Center, US Bank Stadium, CHS Field and Manitou Ridge Golf Course.
Though we stopped making new memories this week, we will cherish the memories we have of Molly. In addition to Andy, she is survived by her mom, Peg Moreno; sister Katie Oxley and her sons, Alex and Drew; sister Liz Bartholomew and her husband Jason and their sons, Bennett and Jack; Andy’s children, Andrea, Tom and Brittney Short. Her dad, Albert Moreno, died in April 2024.
Through her example, we learned many valuable lessons for living a wonderful life filled with adventures. Let’s all “Live like Molly.”
