Every artist dips her brush in her own soul and paints her own nature into her pictures
On Tuesday, June 10, 2025, Gloria Lambarski loving wife and mother of three children, passed away at age 80. Gloria was born on October 25, 1944, in Amarillo, TX to Marcos and Frances (Chavez) Gonzales. She received a Master of Arts in Counseling from University of New Mexico in Albuquerque in 1986 and practiced Family Counseling in Albuquerque, NM and Ukiah, CA, but was forced to retire after 15 years due to debilitating arthritis. On April 22, 1972, Gloria married Timothy Lambarski. They raised two daughters, Michelle and Maria, and son Marcus. After her marriage she was dedicated to raising her children until she obtained her master's degree. Gloria had a passion for drawing and painting from an early age and received an art scholarship to West Texas State University in Canyon. During a break from college, she worked at Texas School for the Deaf in Austin where she learned to read lips, a skill she retained until her death. She returned to art after retirement, but was limited to sketching, often humorous, for the remainder of her life. Also, after her retirement she turned making beaded jewelry and developed it into a business routinely being featured in the Santero Market at San Felipe de Neri Church in Old Town, and exhibiting in Weems Gallery, both in Albuquerque. Gloria loved to read especially novels, biographies and mysteries. To Kill a Mockingbird (Harper Lee) and Roots (Alex Haley) received multiple readings. Favorite authors were John Steinbeck, Rudolpho Anaya and Isabel Allende. She could also read in Spanish. She loved to read long series of 20 plus volumes including Tony Hillerman and Aimee and David Thurlo (both Navajo mysteries) and Alexander McCall Smith (lady detective in Botswana). She was fascinated by Pres. John and Jackie Kennedy and has an extensive collection of books and memorabilia about them. Gloria was preceded in death by her parents. Gloria was raised predominantly by her mother and grandmother but was the darling of numerous aunts and uncles. Gloria is survived by husband Timothy, their three children, Michelle (Greg) Graham, Marcus (Janelle Isaki) Lambarski, Maria (Jason) Gant, 4 grandchildren, a sister-in-law and nephew, and numerous cousins. Cremation took place at Riverside Funeral Home located at 225 San Mateo Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87108. Final resting place is yet to be determined. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to Arthritis Foundation.
