In Loving Memory

Charlotte Anne “Lottie” Rivers Brigman passed away peacefully at home on June 19, 2025.

Born on June 12, 1931, in Chesterfield County, Lottie was the daughter of William Thomas and Annie Sellers Rivers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Lee Brigman, and eldest son, Jim Brigman. Lottie is survived by her sons, Larry (Lexington, SC) and Bobby (Cheraw, SC); her daughter, Luanne Imholt (Matthews, NC); her beloved grandchildren, Bill Brigman, Charlotte Miles Bohn, Elizabeth Miles, and Jon Fitz; and her sister, Sara Rivers Brock (West Columbia, SC).

Lottie worked for 30 years as a cosmetologist, owning Brigman’s Beauty Shop and teaching at Columbia Beauty School. Through her work, she built lasting friendships and showed genuine care for every client. As a member of Northside Baptist Church for nearly 70 years, Lottie served joyfully in many roles, but her greatest passion was teaching women’s Sunday School and Bible study. She loved each of these women deeply and sought ways to minister to them and their families. They loved Lottie too—sending cards and making many calls and visits over the years, especially toward the end of her life. Though never fully comfortable being the focus of attention, she deeply cherished every card, flower, treat, call, and visit.

Anyone who knew Lottie knew that faith was central to her life. In her final years, she often expressed her belief in 2 Corinthians 5:8: “We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord.”

In lieu of flowers, Lottie requested memorials be made to support children at the Connie Maxwell Children’s Home (810 Maxwell Ave., Greenwood, SC 29646) or to Compassion International (Attn: Sponsor Processing, 12290 Voyager Pkwy, Colorado Springs, CO 80921). Lottie faithfully sponsored a child in Haiti for several years through Compassion International, and donations may be designated for “her child.”

The family is deeply grateful to the staff of Lutheran Hospice for their exceptional care and to Mary Rice, whose support allowed them to honor Lottie’s wish to remain at home.

A private burial will be held on Monday, June 23, 2025, at Southland Memorial. A celebration of Lottie’s life will take place in July at Northside Baptist Church, with all who knew her welcome to attend. Details will be shared on the Thompson Funeral Home website as the date approaches.
