Judith Ann “Judy” Hanley (née Clary)
November 19, 1934 – June 16, 2025
Judith Ann “Judy” Hanley, born on November 19, 1934, in Chicago Illinois, passed away peacefully at the age of 90 under the care of Legacy Hospice.
On June 30, 1956, she married the love of her life, Thomas Hanley. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised five wonderful children: Merle, Laura, Thomas Jr., Michael, and Lisa.
Judy attended St. Joseph's School of Nursing, and though she did not complete the program, her compassion and drive led her to a successful career as Secretary to the VP of Sales at 3M Company, and secretary to VP of Walgreens. She also dedicated herself to religious education at both St. Catherine’s in Milwaukee and St. Mary’s Hyacinth in Antigo, Wisconsin.
Throughout her life, Judy embraced many roles: co-owner of Hanley’s Riverview Country Club, kitchen manager for the Knights of Columbus in Antigo, and volunteer with the Share Program and St. Benedict’s Food Program in Milwaukee. Her energy and care touched many lives.
Judy will be remembered for her infectious laugh and sharp sense of humor. She was always ready to lend a hand, offer a kind word, or share a story that ended in laughter. A strong presence in the home, she often relied on her tried-and-true line: “Wait until your father gets home.”
She is survived by her beloved husband of 69 years, Thomas Hanley; her children Merle (Bill) Beaudry, Laura (Jon) Retzlaff, Thomas Jr. (Donna) Hanley, Michael Hanley, and Lisa Kelly (Jim) Rustick; 12 cherished grandchildren; 10 adored great-grandchildren; her dear friend Beverly Wiloff; and close friend Mary Gorka.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Verne and Irma Clary, and her brother Verne Jr.
A Memorial Mass will be held on July 12, 2025, at St. Clare Catholic Church Wind Lake (7616 Fritz St, Wind Lake, WI 53185) beginning promptly at 11:00am. A private burial will take place at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery (N5340 Church Rd, Deerbrook, WI 54424) at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Judy’s memory to The National Breast Cancer Foundation Breast Cancer Information, Support & Donations - National Breast Cancer Foundation or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Online Donations - St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
Judy's strong spirit, quick wit, and lasting impact will be remembered by everyone who knew her.
