Robert L Hartley

Robert Hartley (March 12, 1948 – June 5, 2025)

Born in Sanford, FL, he spent his childhood through college years in Florida and then took a vacation to Colorado and decided to leave the heat and the bugs behind.

A few years later, he met Mary Ann and they were married in 1979 at Mishawaka in Poudre Canyon. They had many adventures with friends and family camping, fishing, playing horseshoes, enjoying backyard barbecues and memorable vacations to Alaska, Hawaii, Canada, South Korea, and China. One of the happiest days of their lives, was the arrival of their daughter Heather in May 1988. A devoted father, he spent many hours coaching and encouraging her to become a great, competitive soccer player and was always there supporting her through life’s ups and downs.

Proud to be a diehard Florida Gators fan, he could still tell you all the details of a game that happened 30 years ago. He was also a big fan of the Denver Broncos and the Colorado Avalanche. An avid fisherman, he was always looking for the “big one” and spent many hours hunting with his dog Shauna at his side. Another passion was gardening where he spent many hours growing his plants from seed, sharing them with friends and family, and harvesting some of the best tomatoes ever.

His early career as a carpenter grew into a general contractor business and he built several restaurants, businesses, and homes along the front range and in Wyoming. He later became a stock broker until online trading was introduced and took away a lot of business. He ultimately became a health insurance agent until he retired in 2016.

Always the fierce competitor, he battled multiple health issues over the last several years, but was able to attend Heather and Lee’s wedding in 2022 and meet his first grandson Liam earlier this year. He is survived by his wife Mary Ann, daughter Heather (Lee), grandson Liam, brothers Barry (Sherry) and Steve (Roseanne), sisters Frieda and Laverne. Preceded in death by his parents William and Esther Hartley.

We are grateful to all of his medical team for their wonderful care and to Pathways Hospice for their strength, compassion and caring during his final days. Family celebration of life has already taken place and no public services are planned. Contributions to Pathways Hospice.
