Dorothy M. Fowler, 95, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2025, at her home in Colorado Springs, Colorado, surrounded by her loving family.

Dorothy was born on September 2, 1929, in Gary, Indiana, to James E. Fairley and Jennie M. (Thomas) Fairley. She graduated from Lew Wallace High School in 1948 and began her professional life working as a secretary for the American Bridge Company, part of the American Sheet and Tin Plate Company.

On October 6, 1950, she married the love of her life, Jack S. Fowler. Two years later, they moved to Colorado Springs, where Dorothy continued her secretarial work with the American Numismatic Association. In later years, she worked part time for the Medical Society. Throughout her life, she was deeply committed to serving her community and enriching the lives of those around her.

Dorothy was a proud member of Beta Sigma Phi, a women’s service organization, and was active in East United Methodist Church, where she served on various committees and cultivated lifelong friendships. She also volunteered at the U.S. Olympic Training Center for over 22 years, contributing in numerous capacities with grace and enthusiasm.

Above all, Dorothy dedicated herself to creating a loving and nurturing home for her husband of 51 years and their daughters, Jan and Barbara. She cherished her role as a mother and grandmother, forming deep bonds and creating lasting memories with each of her grandchildren. A gracious host, Dorothy found great joy in entertaining family and friends and maintained treasured friendships throughout the years.

Dorothy had a passion for reading and loved sharing books with her circle of reading buddies. A devoted Denver Nuggets fan, she followed the team closely and never missed an opportunity to cheer them on—especially during the most nail-biting games. She enjoyed the Enchante dance club, bowling, and participating in card groups. Dorothy also had a great time with her Bunco group for many years.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Jack; her brother, Orlan P. Fairley; her sister, Julia A. Fairley; and many other dear family members and friends.

She is survived by her daughters, Jan (Fowler) Pollard and husband Steve, and Barbara (Fowler) Elstun and husband Gary; her grandchildren, Patrick Pollard and wife Wendy, Christopher Pollard, Maren (Elstun) Mima and husband Mike, and Carlye Elstun and partner Alexia; four great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 18, 2025, from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM at the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Dorothy’s honor to the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Training Center, Finding Our Voices, or The Place.
