Leonard Turner, 79, Of Goose Creek, SC passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, June 21, 2025.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, beginning at 1:00 pm at Beaufort National Cemetery, 1601 Boundary Street, Beaufort, SC 29902. Interment with military honors will immediately follow.

Len was born December 5, 1945, in Bennettsville, SC, son of the late Alex B. Turner and Grace Driggers Turner. He faithfully served his country in the Army National Guard and later in the US Navy as a member of the seal team. He was a decorated sailor who served during the Vietnam War where he received many medals. After leaving his naval service, he served as a Sherriff’s deputy for several years in San Diego, CA. He later became a federal firefighter and transferred to Charleston. He served as a federal firefighter at the Charleston Navy Base, Jacksonville Naval Base and Parris Island until he retired. He was a lifetime member of the VFW.

Len was a hobbyist wood worker, loved to tinker and there wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix. He loved celebrating the holidays with family and was self-proclaimed best 4th of July ribs chef.

He is survived by his wife, Terry Turner, one stepdaughter, Teresa Daniels (Glenn) ofSummerville, SC, stepson, William “Bill” Galloway (Angela) of Greenville, SC and stepson,David Galloway (Rachel) of Charleston, SC. Len had 8 grandchildren, Jennifer R. Parrish (Michael) of Valdosta, GA, Glynda J. Daniels of Columbia, SC, Joseph “Joey” Daniels (Janessa) of Jordan, MN, Brittany Lee of Florence, SC, Ashley Galloway of Florence, SC,Zachary Galloway (Brooke) of Florence, SC, Joel Galloway of Florence, SC, and Jessica Jones (Brandon) of Summerville, SC. While he loved his grandchildren, he adored his 8 great grandchildren, Maggie Winne (Kaleb), Bryce Parrish, Brianna Galloway, Laney Lee,Lukas Lee, Aubrey Galloway, Jackson Dooley, and Oliver Jones, and one great-greatgranddaughter, Daisy Rebecca Winne. He is also survived by one sister, Mary Ella Turner, of Holly Ridge, NC. Len was predeceased by his parents, his brothers, James Turner, Ray Turner, Eddie Turner, Frankie Turner, Steve Turner and Michael Turner.
