Sally Carmody Reeves passed away peacefully on June 20, 2025, surrounded by her husband and family after navigating a ten-year Alzheimer’s journey with courage, dignity and grace.

Sally was born on September 7, 1941, in Waterbury, Connecticut to Elizabeth Merriman Carmody and Guerin Benedict Carmody. She graduated from the Convent of the Sacred Heart, Eden Hall high school, and the Georgetown University School of Nursing.

After nursing school graduation, she worked on one of the first kidney transplant units in the country at Georgetown University Hospital. In her professional career, Sally worked in service of others as a nurse, nursing home administrator, and hospice volunteer coordinator. Throughout her life, she remained committed to serving others in both her professional and volunteer roles.

Sally married Charles Norman (Rick) Reeves, Jr. on September 12, 1964. Married for over 60 years, they resided in many cities, becoming actively involved in their church and community at each stop. Together, they raised three children in Cincinnati before moving on to Altoona, PA, and eventually retiring to The Villages, FL.

Sally loved spending time with her family by the ocean, especially in Weekapaug, RI. She was a keen tennis and bridge player and an avid photographer. Sally was also famous amongst the friends of her children and grandchildren for the baked goods care packages that were always sure to arrive. Post-retirement, she enjoyed frequently visiting her children and grandchildren and travelled extensively with Rick, exploring the world together.

A devout Catholic, Sally served as a Eucharistic minister in many parishes and was Parish Council President at St. John’s the Evangelist in Altoona, PA. She tirelessly volunteered for many causes including a medical mission to Haiti and hospice in The Villages

Sally is predeceased by her parents, Elizabeth (Betty) Carmody and Guerin Benedict Carmody, and her brother Kit Carmody. Sally is survived by her devoted husband, Rick Reeves, and her children Laurie Pringle (David), Chip Reeves (Michelle), and Michael Reeves (Kari), and her sister Laurie Carmody. Grandchildren Chris Reeves (Raja), Megan Pringle, Ryan Pringle (Jena), Sarah Reeves, Samantha Reeves, KC Pringle, and JT Reeves, and great granddaughter Octavia Reeves.

Sally's family will miss her compassion, resilience and grit, dedication to serving others, and commitment to family. Visitation will be held Sunday, June 29, 3:00-5:00 pm at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Home, 3975 Wedgewood Lane, The Villages FL. A funeral Mass will be held Monday, June 30 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel at St. Mark The Evangelist Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cornerstone Hospice, The Villages, FL in Sally’s memory.
