Born August 28, 1937 in Charlotte, NC. Parents were the late Dellie T and Kathleen Patterson Robinson. At a young age, Mary went to live with her aunt and uncle, the late Horace M. and Viola Neely Robinson who raised her as their own. She graduated high school at Gastonia High school in 1955. She took piano lessons at an early age that began a passion of music that she carried to Appalachain State Teachers college where she majored in music. She also met William Joseph Crawford of Boone; NC and they married in 1959. Their first home was in Ft. Pierce, Florida where she began teaching and the couple had their first son, William J. Crawford, jr. Soon after Mary and Bill and Billy moved back to Charlotte, their second son, Bryan Allen was born. Mary taught elementary school in Charlotte until retirement in 1995. She and her husband loved to participate in Church and Community Choirs.

 

Mary and her husband Bill volunteered with Friendship Trays and enjoyed traveling with Christian tours. She became a Stephens Minister and enjoyed her circle group at Mt. Holly Methodist Church in Mt. Holly, NC. Her church and her love and faith in the Lord brought her through many trials of life.

 

Mary was the devoted wife of William (Bill) Crawford for 51 years until his death on August 7, 2010. She was also preceded in death by her son Willaim (Billy) Crawford, brother John Robinson, and her sister Anne Robinson Ewing and husband Dr. Bill Ewing.

 

She is survived by son Bryan and Sara Poole and granddaughter Clara. She was also survived by her daughter in law Suzy Crawford, granddaughters Ryn Crawford Messenger and husband Brent Messenger and great grandsons Bryce and Blake. She is also survived by granddaughter Neely Crawford and great grandson Willam. She is also survived by a brother, David Robinson and wife Jan of McBee, SC, nephews Michael and wife Renee Robinson and their children Will and Landon of Matthews, Doug and Baub Robinson and son Ty.

 

The family will have a private grave side service at Forest Lawn West in Charlotte.
