Clare Shirley Ormond Gaither
December 29th, 1934 - June 21st, 2025
In loving memory...
Clare Shirley Ormond Gaither, mother of Anne Shirley Ormond, David Ellis Ormond, MD and John Charles (Chuck) Ormond, Jr., passed away on Saturday, June 21, 2025, after a long battle with cancer. Her final days were spent surrounded by her children and grandchildren.
With a Masters in English from Indiana University, she taught high school English in several different states throughout her working life.
She moved to the Villages in Florida in 2005 and hosted her grandchildren there on many occasions, traveling to Disney, Bush Gardens and Universal among other destinations. She loved to read and play golf with women’s groups during her retirement. She loved to travel and learn the history of other places in both the United States and abroad.
She was loved by her family and friends and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her children and grandchildren, Sean, Connor, Julia, Rachel, Matt, Sara and Allison.
She will join her beloved husband and her mother and father in Lexington, South Carolina. Her family would ask that she be remembered for the joy she brought to others in life and not the sadness of her passing.
The family is meeting to have a private ceremony at Woodbridge Memorial Park & Funeral Home, on Wednesday at 11:00 am.
