Shaun Elder, a devoted family man, passionate hockey fan, and surprisingly melodious piper, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2025, in Henderson, Nevada, at the age of 68. Born in Detroit, Michigan, on February 20, 1957, Shaun spent his life making his mark and building cherished memories.

    Shaun had a love affair with hockey, beginning early as a proud alumnus of Iowa State University where he was a member of the Delta Swag fraternity. Following college, he played semi-pro with both the Peterborough Petes and Los Angeles Junior Kings, where he won the National Championship in 1977 and earned the MVP trophy. He was an avid Golden Knights fan with an intensity that matched his love for the game.

    Beyond the rink, Shaun was a force of nature—stern but undeniably loving, passionately opinionated, and famously hilarious. He had a unique way of connecting with people, leaving an indelible impression on everyone he met.

    More than anything, Shaun adored his family. His wife, children, and grandchildren were the light of his life. He cherished every moment spent with them, creating a legacy of love and laughter.

    Shaun is survived by his beloved wife, Jennifer Elder; his devoted son, Andrew (Tess) Elder; his loving daughter, Allison (Alex) Elder; and his cherished grandchildren, Noah Elder and Levi Elder. He also leaves behind his siblings, Janine Elder, Hugh Elder, and Brenda Leavenworth, who will miss his spirited presence dearly. Shaun was preceded in death by his parents, Betty and Alex Elder, who undoubtedly welcomed him with open arms.

    Shaun's life was a testament to living fully and loving fiercely. While his absence leaves a void, his vibrant spirit, memorable wit, unwavering love for his family and friends will be celebrated and remembered always.
