Rodney Marlowe Boyd, age 85, of Mt. Carmel went to be with the Lord on June 22, 2025. He was born in Ashland, Ohio on February 20, 1940 to Marlowe and Mabel Boyd. Rodney was an avid woodworker known for his craftsmanship and even taught building trades briefly at Volunteer High School. Rodney enjoyed traveling and camping with his family. He attended Ketron Memorial Methodist Church where he sang in the choir. Rodney was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be missed by all that knew him.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brother John Boyd and sister-in-law Shirley Boyd.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 63 years Sarah Lee Boyd; sons Mark (Charlyn) Boyd and David (Donna) Boyd; grandchildren Shenandoah Boyd, David Guinn, and Stephanie Guinn; brother Deane (Wanda) Boyd; sister Jill (Kevin) Eady; along with several nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 from 12 pm to 1 pm at Carter-Trent Funeral Home – Kingsport with a service to follow with Rev. Roy Hull officiating. To attend services virtually please click here.

A graveside service will be conducted at 3 pm at Church Hill Memory Gardens. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 2:50 pm.
