Lucy Jones Strickland Cargile, 89, of Summerville, South Carolina, died at Oakbrook Health and Rehabilitation on June 17, 2025.
She was born in Sylvester, Ga in 1936 to Emmie and Gaston Jones. Lucy was a seamstress by trade but she also devoted her entire life to caring for the children in her life. Lucy was everyone’s grandmother, and she had a meaningful impact on every child born into her family. Known for her kindness and compassionate nature, Lucy touched the lives of those around her with grace and generosity. Her commitment to her family left an indelible mark, and she will be remembered for the love she shared with all who knew her.
Lucy was preceded in death by her husband Hanson Strickland who passed in 1967 and her husband Harry Cargile who passed in 1986. Lucy is survived by her sister Jeannie Harrell, Her daughter Doris and son in law George Pinson, Her granddaughter Kori and grandson in law James Kelley and their children Mason and Ireland.
No services will be held, according to Lucy’s wishes. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to St. Jude as that was Lucy’s favorite charity.
