Dolores Rose Arcott, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, passed away on June 23, 2025 at Baystate Medical Center with her family by her side. Born on December 18, 1950, in Holyoke, Massachusetts, Dolores was a lifelong resident of Chicopee MA.

Dolores dedicated her professional life to the enrichment of children and families, working in special education at various public schools in Hampden County and the Lower Pioneer Valley Educational Collaborative. Education was a significant part of Dolores’s life; she graduated from Chicopee Comprehensive HS ’69 and later she obtained a certificate in substance use cessation from Springfield College, equipping her with the skills to help her students navigate their challenges. In addition, she proudly served the community as a poll worker for the City of Chicopee.

In her personal life, Dolores enjoyed sewing, gardening, and shopping at thrift stores, where she often found treasures to add to the various collections of “her stuff”. Above all, she cherished her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother, finding genuine joy in the lives of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her spirit will live on in their hearts.

Dolores is survived by her devoted husband, James W. Arcott; her daughter, Jennifer L. Allard (Thomas); her son, John D. Blair II (Aimee); and her sister, Darlene Theroux. She leaves her grandchildren, Charles, Joseph, and Jacob Allard; Johnny and Alyssa Blair; and her beloved great-grandchildren Austin and Brett. She also leaves her niece Allison Theroux and nephew Adam Theroux. She was predeceased by her beloved nephew Eric Theroux. Her passing marks a significant absence in the lives of her family and those who knew her. Sweet Austin is already looking to the clouds for Grandma Dolores.

A private service will be held to celebrate the life of Dolores Rose Arcott. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to The Shriner’s Hospital.
