In Loving Memory

Affectionately known as “Big R” to those who loved him, Randall Walker Robinson died peacefully at his home on June 24th 2025, leaving behind a legacy of strength, kindness, humor, and unwavering devotion to faith, family, and community.

He was the beloved son of Mary Ann Wade, and — like his mother — he cultivated deep, meaningful friendships throughout his life. Randall believed friends were essential to a happy life and was profoundly grateful for the many who prayed for and supported him in recent years.

A proud 1976 graduate of the University of South Carolina, Randall built a lifelong career in the financial industry. From 1976 to 1985, he worked at SC National Bank, followed by First SC Securities and Ft. Jackson Federal Credit Union. He served as CEO of SC National Guard Federal Credit Union from 1990 until his retirement in 2019. Randall believed deeply in the credit union mission of “people helping people” and embodied those values in every aspect of his life. He also gave generously of his time, serving on numerous boards and committees — including two decades with the Columbia Touchdown Club.

A man of deep Christian faith, Randall was a devoted member of Mt. Horeb Church, where he served in many leadership and service roles, including as Finance Chairman, Bridge 10 mentor, Circles board member, scripture reader, Upward basketball referee, and a dedicated member of the Men’s Friday morning prayer group.

Randall loved life and had many passions. He enjoyed golf — especially competing for the coveted 'Joey trophy' with his lifelong golfing buddies — playing guitar, running, boating, singing - often bringing joy and laughter to those around him. A lifelong sports fan, Wilson Hall Football held a special place in his heart and was always at the top of his list.

Randall lived his life with great passion and purpose. He adored his family and considered it his greatest blessing.

He is survived by his amazing wife, Kathryn Kennedy Robinson; his daughter, Amy Wilson (Kurt); and his son, Ryan Robinson. He was a devoted stepfather to Lauren Lyons and Ashley Bishop (Trey). Randall was a proud and loving grandfather to: Dillon McKenzie Wilson (Sierra), Walker William Wilson, Reese Stewart Wilson, Lee Robinson Wilson, Sydney Elizabeth Robinson, James Randall Robinson, and soon to be born William Lee Bishop. He is also survived by his siblings Mike Robinson (Carol), Julie Sumner (Bill), Jon Robinson (Lisa) and by many beloved nieces and nephews.

Randall loved his family with passion, lived his life to the fullest, and will be remembered for his faith, strength, warmth, and the steady voice he offered so many. His legacy will carry on through all who had the honor of knowing him.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Interim Hospice, especially to Chris Kelly, RN, and Michelle Smith, hospice aide, for their compassionate and dignified care provided in Big R’s final days.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Mt. Horeb Church. Immediately following the service, a Celebration of Life will take place at the Corley Mill House, until 5:00 PM, located at 221 Corley Mill Road, Lexington, South Carolina 29072.
