George Loren Bennett
July 20th, 1937 - June 15th, 2025
George Loren Bennett, a lifelong resident of Grand View, Idaho, passed away peacefully with family by his side at home on June 15, 2025, at the age of 87.
George was born on July 20, 1937, in Boise, Idaho. He was the oldest child of George L. Bennett and Lillian Lona Collett. He spent his life farming and ranching in the community he loved. A devoted husband, George, shared 62 wonderful years of marriage with his wife, Donna Marie (Smith) Bennett. Their love story began with a blind date and grew into a lasting partnership grounded in faith, hard work, and service to others.
George attended Hayland School from first through sixth grade and completed his education in Grand View. He was deeply rooted in the land and community. Together, George and Donna founded the Grand View Ambulance Service 50 years ago, providing vital emergency care for the area. Later remote surroundings and recreation needs prompted them to form the Rimrock Rescue group. He also served as president of the Owyhee Cattleman's Association, was active in the Grand View Lions Club for many years and proudly served his country in the United States Army.
George's hard work and dedication to farming earned him recognition, including winning the National Corn Growers Association's Corn Yield Contest for the state. He found great joy spending time at the family ranch in the Owyhee Mountains, where he could be close to the land he loved.
George is survived by his wife, Donna; his children, Scott George Bennett (Lori) and Debbie Ann Bennett (Scott Bunderson); grandchildren Courtney Lynn Briscoe (Jacob) and Nicholas Loren Bennett (Megan); and great-grandchildren Everley Lynn Briscoe, Jackson Timothy Briscoe, Blake Rae Bennett, and Benjamin Scott Briscoe; his sister Belva Lawson and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents and sister Linda Bennett.
He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, June 27, 2025, at Rost Funeral Home in Mountain Home, Idaho.
In lieu of flowers, charitable donations may be made to the Grand View Lions Club in George’s memory.

We Entrusted George Bennett's Care To
Rost Funeral Home
As the only funeral home in Elmore County, the staff at Rost Funeral Home work hard to be active members of the Mountain Home community and to be there to take care of families in every way possible when the need arises. Our funeral home opened in 2005 when Jerry and Janette Rost purchased the business. We’ve continued to grow along with Mountain Home. Jerry’s career began more than fifty years ago in Boise, and along the way, he acquired an 1897 horse-drawn funeral carriage, which we proudly display in our facility....
