Beers and Story - Belchertown
Marcy Schwartz
November 30th, 1948 - June 23rd, 2025
Belchertown-Marcy (Buchband) Schwartz, 76, passed away June 23, 2025 at her home with her husband by her side. Born November 30, 1948 in Manhattan, NY, she was the daughter of Moses and Bertha (Rosenblatt) Buchband. Marcy grew up on Long Island and furthered her education at Boston University. At the time of her marriage to her husband, Howard, the couple lived in Brookline. They then moved to Amherst and Chicopee before settling in Belchertown in 1977. For a number of years, Marcy worked at the Umass Bookstore in Amherst as the manager of the book department. She was a member of the Allen Bird Club and Naturalist Club, both in Springfield. As an avid birder she travelled throughout this country and others to view as many birds as she could, New Mexico being her favorite place to visit. Her love of the arts brought her to both the Met Opera in New York and the Goodspeed Opera house in Ct for many years, made even better with her front row seats in both places. Her annual 4th of July BBQs at the Schwartz house brought family and friends together and a much looked forward to event. Marcy is survived by her husband of 54 years, Howard, along with Howard's two sisters, Rhonda Friedman and Carla Greenberg both of Florida. Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. Donations may be made in her memory to the Leukemia Society.
