Beach Funeral Homes - East
Herbert Doyle Jordan
May 22nd, 1955 - June 18th, 2025
Herbert Jordan left this earth to be with God on 6/18/2025. He was a model Christian, devoted father, dedicated employee, and a loyal friend to many. He is preceded in death by his father Dick Jordan, mother Gwili Jordan, sister Marla Meeks, and nephew Wesley Schmidt. Survivors include his children Maria Jordan, Satellite Beach, FL, Michael Jordan, San Francisco, CA; grandchildren Joshua, Jordan, and Journi; sister Tonda Jordan, Cumming, GA, and brother Chad Jordan, Union City, Ohio. Uncles/Aunts Jack Snider, Judy Hindsley, Larry Snider, and many beloved nieces, nephew & cousins.
Herb, as he was known by his friends, lived a fulfilled life. He was born on May 22, 1955, in the small town of Winchester, IN. After graduating high school, he spent a few years in higher education before enlisting in the Air Force in 1975. His career in the military afforded him the opportunity to see life outside of rural Indiana. He was first stationed in Florida, then the Philippines, Germany, Nebraska, and ultimately back to Florida again. Knowing there was a good chance the military would relocate him and his family outside of Florida, he decided to go back to school, setting him and his family up for a stable future. While working full time and raising 2 children, he took night classes, eventually getting his bachelor’s degree at Rollins College. He retired from the military in 1996 and worked the civilian life in accounting. He called Florida home for the rest of his life.
Herb liked to stay active. His passion was always tennis but he also had a great love of cycling. If it wasn’t tennis or cycling, he’d stay busy volunteering at meals on wheels, lending a hand to his neighbors, teaching at Sunday school, working on projects, or tending to a neatly curated lawn. “I hate just sitting around” he’d always say.
In 2019, Herb was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease. Even after his diagnosis, he always maintained his positive attitude and optimistic view of life. He died of Parkinson’s related complications.
Herb touched the lives of so many. The memory of his friendly and kind nature will endure through his friends and family.
A Memorial Service will be held at Beach Funeral Home, 1689 S. Patrick Dr., Indian Harbour Beach, Fl on Monday July 7, 2025, at noon with Pastor Steve Schantz. An inurnment service will take place at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, 5525 US Highway 1, Mims, Florida on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at 1:00 pm, with full Military Honors being accorded by the North Brevard Honor Guard and the US Air Force Honor Guard.
