Laura Lee Bomgaars [Mildenstein] passed away in her Windsor Colorado home on June 18, 2025. Laura grew up in Iowa where she attended Ida Grove High School. As a single mom, she earned her nursing degree at Storm Lake and began a nursing career that spanned over 25 years of caring for patients with dignity and compassion.

After spending time in Storm Lake, Laura moved to Colorado in the early 2000’s where she combined her nursing career with her fondness for the outdoors and adventure. A favorite place to visit was Estes Park and she went there often with family and friends. Sky diving and whitewater rafting scared all of us and were happy when horseback riding and hiking kept her closer to the ground.

Laura is survived by her daughters Rachel Bomgaars, Katie Klinksick [Bomgaars] and husband Patrick, Kayla Bomgaars and husband Adam Moore, father Gary Mildenstein and wife Linda, and her sister Lynne Mildenstein and husband Jimmy Mauldin. Laura is also survived by her close companion of many years, Tracy Clark, whom she shared many adventures with.

Laura Lee will be remembered for her sense of humor, fun and outgoing personality, her sentimental heart, her smile and laugh, love for animals and, most of all, for her free spirit. Her daughters will miss her terribly, as she was an amazing mom, who made sure to imprint strength and resilience in her girls. She leaves a void in our hearts that we can only hope to fill with loving and fond memories. Our solace is that Laura is at peace and has joined her mother, Mary Mildenstein, who preceded her in death and whom she dearly loved and missed.

Memorial services will be private with a Celebration of Life to be scheduled at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations go to Women Give of Larimer County- a scholarship program that provides financial aid to single mothers as they pursue a college education. Donations can be made at: https://uwaylc.org/womengive/ & click "give." To honor her love of animals, other donations may be made to Noco Humane Society at: https://register.nocohumane.org/give/234539/#!/donation/checkout
