Joshua Weber Kucera
November 27th, 1974 - February 10th, 2025
It is with profound sadness that the family of Joshua Weber Kucera announce his passing on February 10, 2025 in Charleston, SC. He is survived by this Mother, Kathryn Kucera (Kit), Dad, Robert Kucera (Bob), Father, Russell English, Step-Mother, Debra English, sister, Sarah MacDonald, brother-in-law, Graham MacDonald, niece, Scarlett, and nephew, Wilder, brothers, Kyle English, nephew, Daniel and Luke English, nieces, Araella Jade and Grace Ann. He is also survived by 4 Aunts, 2 Uncles and countless numbers of cousins that he adored. He loved his family especially the littles. Six Grandparents, 3 Uncles and 1 Aunt transitioned in the past ten years. First and foremost, Joshua was a Tarheel. He was born at UNC Memorial Hospital on November 27, 1974 in Chapel Hill, NC. His heart was Carolina Blue through and through. His home and his wardrobe reflected his undeniable allegiance to the Tarheels. March Madness was the best time of year for Joshua. He graduated from UNC at Chapel Hill with a degree in Economics. His expertise was computers, networking and working with people. He was currently enrolled at Trident Technical College completing another degree including advanced certifications for future employment. Joshua had a wonderful sense of humor. It was important to him to laugh, make people smile and to be helpful to others. He volunteered at many activities including adopting a Bus Stop on America Street using the name Bruce Wayne (Batman) and received an award for the best Bus Stop of the year. Joshua was a regular volunteer at the Charleston Animal Society and of course brought home 2 dogs and 1 cat, Steve, Izzie, and Steve 2. He was a block representative for the neighborhood watch program. He worked the last 2 weeks of the Presidential election this past November at the local polls and they were thrilled to have him there to trouble shoot the problems that surface. He was a dedicated blood donor that he learned from Bob. He helped the IT department during the Charleston Open Tennis Tournament. Joshua enjoyed a wonderful group of friends and family here and around the world. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers as we grieve the loss of someone so dear to us. A gathering of friends and family occurred on 2/23/2025 at his favorite hang out the Recovery Room on King Street in Charleston to celebrate his friendship, his laughter, his love and his short life. Sarah and her family, myself and best friend, Paul, spread his ashes into the tidal creek off a very private dock in the area. He loved kayaking and laughing at us struggling to keep up. Thank you so much for your love and concern. Donations in his honor can be made to the Charleston Animal Society, 2455 Remount Rd, North Charleston, SC 29406, 843-747-4849, Charlestonanimalsociety.org. He would be thrilled!
