Clifford Thomas Bayne, Sr.
November 10th, 1939 - June 24th, 2025
Clifford Thomas Bayne Sr., 85, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on June 24, 2025. Clifford was born on November 10, 1939, in Cushing, Oklahoma. He grew up in a loving environment, spending his early years with his grandpa, Gus, and Granny. Throughout his life, Clifford embodied the values of hard work, kindness and dedication to family. In his youth, Clifford served in the Marine Corps, an experience that instilled in him a strong sense of discipline and pride. He later transitioned into a career as a truck driver, navigating the open roads while supporting his family. In 1964, he met the love of his life, Diane. They married in 1969 and together raised three children; Shelley M. Bayne, Clifford T. Bayne Jr., and Patricia Bayne (Jim Sanchez). Clifford also had three children from his previous marriage; Chuck Bayne, Gary Bayne and Kimberly Bayne and his daughter-in-law, Sandie. His memory is cherished by 21 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
Clifford was not only a dedicated family-man, but also a cherished brother. He is survived by his wife, Diane Bayne, his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and numerous siblings - brothers: Melvin, Mickey, Bob, Donald, Gary, Bobby, Scott, Charles, Larry and Mike - and sisters: Hope, Sharon, Anita, Rhonda, Dominica and Jaime, and many nieces and nephews.
Clifford’s life was marked by both joy and sorrow. He was preceded in death by his parents, Naomi (Troy) Denson and Eugene Bayne, as well as his in-laws, Alfreda and Bud Laabs. His grandparents, Augustus Matlock and Granny also passed before him, along with his beloved daughter Shelly Bayne. He mourned the loss of several brothers and sisters throughout his life, including Billy, Frank, David, Dean, Roy, Tennie Jo, Barbara Jean, Colleen, Leslie Ann, Corrina, Darlene, Barbara, Jeannie, Mary, Linda, and countless nieces and nephews.
Clifford was kind, gentle, and loving. Clifford cherished activities like hunting, fishing and had a deep love for animals. Music and dancing brought him joy and he deeply valued family gatherings, especially during the holidays. He took tremendous pride in sharing his birthday with the United States Marine Corps - a testament to his love of service and commitment to his country. His greatest joy was found in the love of his wife, children and grandchildren. As a protector, he loved his family fiercely; he was always there to support and protect them.
Clifford’s warm spirit and dedication to family will be greatly missed by all who knew him. His life serves as a testament to the values of love, hard work, and the importance of family connections, leaving an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to have shared their lives with him. His legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire those who gather to remember him.
A memorial service will be held on July 17, 2025 at Rocky Mountain Calvary in Colorado Springs, CO, with a reception to follow upstairs in the church. Additionally, a celebration of his life will take place at the Mill Hill Saloon (Blooms) from 4pm-6pm the same day.
